Stamped Concrete in Evergreen Park With a Natural Stone Look

Patios and walks with the character of slate or brick, poured as one surface so there are no loose pieces or weedy joints.

How Does Plain Concrete Become Something That Looks Like Stone?

Stamped concrete is concrete that has been colored and pressed with a texture while it is still workable, so the finished surface resembles slate, flagstone, cobblestone or brick. Because it is poured as one slab, there are no individual pieces to shift and no sand joints for weeds. How is it done? The foundation of good stamped work is the same as any slab: excavation to firm soil, compacted stone, forms set to a slope that carries water away and reinforcement inside the concrete. Then the decorative steps begin. Color is either mixed into the concrete or spread over the surface. A release agent is applied, which keeps the stamping mats from sticking and leaves a second shade in the recesses for depth. When the concrete has firmed to just the right point, the crew lays the mats and presses the pattern in, working edges and corners by hand with smaller tools so the texture reaches the forms. The joints follow grout lines in the pattern, so they vanish into it. Once the slab has cured, the excess release is washed off and a sealer is applied to finish the job, deepening the color and helping the surface resist water and stains. Before all of this, we bring samples so you can compare patterns and colors against your house in natural light.

What Goes Into Stamped Work?

The pattern draws the eye. These steps keep it looking good.

  • Samples beside your home

Swatches held beside your brick and trim in natural light.

  • A proper base

Excavation, compacted stone and sloped forms like any lasting slab.

  • Primary color

Blended into the concrete or broadcast across the surface.

  • Accent release

A second shade that settles into the texture for depth.

  • Careful timing

Mats pressed when the concrete holds a crisp impression.

  • Hand-finished edges

Texture worked into corners and along the borders.

  • Joints along the pattern

Hidden in the pattern's grout lines.

  • Sealer to finish

Applied after curing to enrich color and resist stains.

What Are the Steps to a Stamped Patio or Walk?

  1. Choose and quote

We measure, show samples at your home and provide a written quote naming the pattern, colors, base, thickness and sealer.

  2. Prepare and pour

Old concrete is removed, the base is built and forms are set. The slab is poured, colored and stamped at the right moment.

  3. Cure, seal and clean

A cured slab gets rinsed, then a coat of sealer; forms leave and the yard is restored.

How Is Our Decorative Work Different?

  • Colors chosen in person

You see samples next to your house, not on a screen.

  • Strength under the style

The same base and reinforcement as our structural slabs.

  • Unhurried finishing

Stamping waits for the concrete, not the clock.

  • Samples at your house
  • Crisp, timed impressions
  • Joints hidden in pattern
  • Sealed as a final step
